Board of Directors
Rodolphe Saadé is Chairman of the Board of Directors since 29 April 2019 and has been a member of CEVA’s Board of Directors since 3 May, 2018. Mr. Saadé currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, a leading worldwide shipping group, where he has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2010. Prior to his appointment as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Saadé was Executive Officer from 2004 to 2014 and Vice-Chairman from 2010 to 2017. During his tenure at CMA CGM Group, Mr. Saadé has overseen the financial restructuring of the company and has led a round of consolidations and the negotiations of various strategic agreements. He has also concluded the acquisitions of APL, Mercosul and Containerships. Mr. Saadé is a member of the Board of Directors of ABC and is Knight of the French Legion of Honor. Mr. Saadé holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Marketing degree from Concordia University in Montreal.
Rolf Watter, previously CEVA’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors as of 29 April, 2019. He has been a partner at the Zurich law firm Bär & Karrer since 1994. He specializes in M & A transactions and is an expert in corporate governance questions. He currently serves as chairman of PostFinance AG, serves as a non-executive director of Aryzta AG, AW Faber Castell AG and AP Alternative Portfolio AG and is a board member in two charitable foundations. He is a member of the Regulatory Board of the SIX Swiss Exchange and professor of law at the University of Zurich. He is a former chairman of Nobel Biocare Holding AG and Cablecom Holding GmbH. In addition, he was a Board member of Zurich Insurance Group AG, Syngenta AG, Forbo Holding AG, and Centerpulse AG. Mr. Watter graduated from the University of Zurich with a Doctorate in law and holds a Master of Laws degree from Georgetown University.
Béatrice de Clermont Tonnerre has been serving as Google Director for AI Partnerships since July 2018. She is based at the AI Research Center in Paris and engages with Nation States and top EMEA companies on Machine Learning solutions. From 2013 to 2018 she was Southern Europe Director for monetisation at Google, covering France, Spain and Italy. She was previously Senior VP Business Development at Lagardere leading mergers and acquisitions, after working for the Canal Plus Group from 2001 to 2005 as Head of Interactive Television and Co-Head of Programming. Mrs. de Clermont Tonnerre started her career as a strategy analyst at Matra working on satellite services and defense electronics. From 1996 to 2000 she was a junior member of the team to the build-up that led to the creation of EADS Group (now Airbus Group). Béatrice de Clermont Tonnerre graduated from IEP Paris (BA in Political Sciences and Economy) and obtained her MBA degree from ESSEC (École Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales). Until June 2018 she was the Vice-Chairwoman of Hurriyet, the leading Turkish Newspaper (company listed in Istanbul). She is currently Board Member at Klepierre, a European specialist in Shopping Centers (Paris CAC 40 listed company).
Daniel Hurstel has been a member of our Board of Directors since 3 May, 2018. Mr. Hurstel has been a partner in the Corporate and Financial Services Departments at the American law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP since 1996 advising leading international companies. He also serves on the law firm’s Executive Committee and has done so for several years. He holds an MBA from the French business school, HEC, as well as a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Paris 1. He is a recognized author on corporate governance and company’s purpose issues. He served as Co-Chairman of the Securities section and of the Capital Markets Forum of the International Bar Association (IBA). He is an associate member of the Royal Academy of Belgium, Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur and Officier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
Emanuel R. Pearlman has been a member of our Board of Directors since 28 June, 2013. Mr. Pearlman currently serves as the Executive Chairman of Empire Resorts, Inc., where he has served as a director since May 2010 and previously served as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board from September 2010 through May 2016. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Liberation Investment Group, LLC, which he founded in 2003. He has also been a director of Network-1 Technologies, Inc. since January 2012, where he serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Corporate Governance Committee. From November 2018 until February 2019, Mr. Pearlman served on the Board of Managers and as President of each of SRC O.P., SRC Facilities LLC and SRC Real Estate (TX) LLC, which are special purpose bankruptcy remote limited liability companies with ownership of approximately 100 real estate properties of Sears. From May through September of 2017, Mr. Pearlman served on the board of directors of ClubCorp Holdings, Inc. where he served on the Strategic Review Committee, and from 2009 to 2014 he served as the sole independent director of the Fontainebleau Miami JV LLC, which currently owns and operates the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. Mr. Pearlman served as a member of the boards of directors of Dune Energy and Jameson Inns, Inc. from 2012-2013. He also served as a director of Multimedia Games, Inc., from October 2006 to March 2010. Mr. Pearlman holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and graduated with an AB degree in economics from Duke University.
Farid Salem currently serves as Special Advisor to the Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM and has been affiliated with the CMA CGM group since its origins. Born and educated in Beirut, Lebanon, Mr. Salem holds a master’s degree in Law and Economics and began his career as a director and partner of the Lebanese company Packfreez in 1964. He successfully headed the importation and distribution activity of food products in Lebanon and then the industrial fishing operations in Madagascar and in 1974, following the Madagascar government’s nationalisation of fishing companies, he founded Polyfreez to focus on the importation and distribution of seafood products in Lebanon. In 1976, he broadened the company’s activity in Kuwait, where he was Director of Fisheries for United Fisheries of Kuwait, with a fleet of 50 freezer trawlers. Contacted by Jacques Saadé in 1978, Farid T. Salem helped create and launch CMA (Compagnie Maritime d’Affrètement) in Marseille.In 1986, Jacques Saadé appointed him Chief Executive Vice President of CMA, then, in 1999, of CMA CGM Group, following the merger with Compagnie Générale Maritime.In 2010, Farid T. Salem was appointed Executive Officer of CMA CGM and Director of the Board. He has been appointed Special Advisor to the Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM since 1 September 2018.
Michel Sirat joined CMA CGM as Group Chief Financial Officer in June 2011 and was appointed Group Chief Financial & Performance Officer in January 2017. Prior to joining CMA CGM, Mr. Sirat held various positions from 2000 to 2011 in the GDF SUEZ Group. He was in charge of Trading & Portfolio Management Europe from 2008 to 2011, served as CEO of SUEZ Energy Resources NA (a top 3 BTB electricity provider in the USA) from 2006 to 2008 and was Group SVP in charge of corporate Finance, Tax & Treasury from 2000 to 2005. From 1989 to 2000, Mr. Sirat worked for the French Treasury. Mr. Sirat has degrees from Ecole Centrale de Paris, Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and Ecole Nationale d'Administration.
Nicolas Sartini is our Chief Executive Officer since June 2019. He joined CEVA in January 2019 as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining CEVA, Mr. Sartini had been Chief Executive Officer of APL since CMA CGM’s takeover of APL in June 2016. In this role, Mr. Sartini was instrumental in the quick turnaround of APL between 2016 and 2018 and brings to CEVA a wealth of expertise in the ocean carrier field. Prior to joining APL, he held various positions within CMA CGM, including as Group Senior Vice President. He graduated from the Paris-based Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales business school in 1983.
Serge Corbel is our Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Corbel joined CEVA in October 2018, bringing with him 30 years’ experience in the logistics industry. Previously, he served in various positions for CMA CGM S. A. From 2016 to October 2018, he was CFO of APL / NOL, a CMA CGM company, based in Singapore. From 1991 to June 2016, Mr. Corbel was corporate controller and member of the executive committee at CMA CGM. From 1984–1991, his duties ranged from salesman to commercial manager with NCHP, a French container shipping company. Mr. Corbel is French and graduated from EAP-ESCP Europe in 1981.
Laurent Binetti is our Chief Commercial Officer. Mr. Binetti joined CEVA in September 2018. After starting his career in the retail industry, Mr. Binetti subsequently spent over 20 years with Dell, where he held several senior commercial positions in Switzerland and the UK with an EMEA scope. During his time at Dell, he successfully expanded the company’s presence into new geographies and developed new products and services. Lately, he has led several start-up initiatives, helping young entrepreneurs to structure their go-to-market strategies. He holds an MBA from the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland.
Brett Bissell is our Chief Operating Officer – Contract Logistics. Mr. Bissell joined CEVA in January 2011 as Managing Director of CEVA’s Latin America operations, where he built a strong team that transformed CEVA’s business and prospects in the region. Prior to joining CEVA, he held a number of executive positions at Flextronics International with operational oversight of Japan and Brazil, and has held a number of senior roles at Qualcomm. Mr. Bissell started his career with engineering roles at Toshiba and Motorola in Japan. As CEVA’s COO for Contract Logistics he is responsible for leading strategy, establishing best practices, and further growing the business line. He received his MBA and MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Union College in New York.
Aymeric Chandavoine was named Chief Operating Officer Freight Management in June 2019. He joined CEVA in April 2010 as Vice President, Consumer & Retail for Asia Pacific. Mr. Chandavoine then took over the role of Head of Business Development for Greater China before becoming the Managing Director for North Asia cluster. In February 2018, he was appointed as Executive Vice President Global Sales in which he successfully built a new organization focused on growing new customers. Before joining CEVA, Mr. Chandavoine was Country Director for China for FM Logistic and has held several senior positions in the same company prior to that. He received his Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from École Centrale de Lille and his Master's Degree in Business from Ecole Superieure des Affaires.
Kenneth J. Burch is our Chief Legal Officer. Mr. Burch joined TNT Logistics in North America in 2003 where he was responsible for Litigation and Risk Management and was appointed General Counsel for the North American business in 2006 becoming CEVA’s Chief Legal Officer in 2014. He received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Texas A & M University and his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University in Texas.
Christophe Cachat is our Chief Information Officer. Mr. Cachat joined CEVA in June 2014. Before joining CEVA, he served as SVP Information Technology, Americas for Kühne + Nagel from 2007 to 2014 as well as Chief Technology Officer for ACR Logistics in the United Kingdom from 2003 to 2006. Prior to that, he held a number of security, technology and engineering roles at ALSTOM in France, Banque Indosuez (now Crédit Agricole) and CEGETEL (now SFR). He received his Master’s degree in Computer Science from the French National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC) in Toulouse.
Pierre-Olivier Landry is our Chief Human Resources Officer. Mr. Landry joined CEVA in May 2019, from Geodis as Chief Human Resources Officer. At Geodis, he has transformed and managed the global HR organization and corporate HR team for the Freight Forwarding business line. Prior to that he held a number of executive positions in Human Resources in various industries, such as automotive, consultancy, hospitality, market research and transportation & logistics. Pierre-Olivier received his Master's Degree from University Panthéon-Assas Paris II.
Leigh Pomlett is our Executive Director. Mr. Pomlett joined CEVA in September 2009 as Executive Vice President for UK and Ireland. He subsequently became President, Northern Europe in November 2010, was appointed President, Europe in 2013 and since January 2015 has acted as Executive Director. He has held a number of senior country and regional roles, beginning in 1980, including Chief Executive Mainland Europe for Exel and Chief Executive Mainland Europe DHL Supply Chain, as well as management roles spanning a number of business sectors. Mr. Pomlett received his Business degree from Liverpool University. He is also a member and chairman of the Board of the Freight Transport Association in the United Kingdom. He also sits on the Board of the Anji-CEVA joint venture in China.
