YOUR ROLE


Ceva Logistics is currently hiring for a Category Manager - Fleet and Packaging located in Houston, TX.  The North American (NORTAM) region for Ceva Logistics supports the US, Canada and Mexico.

 

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

  • Fleet: 60%
    • Manage, source, negotiate the procurement of trucks, trailers, fuel, maintenance, tires, branding, and accessories.
    • Create effective monthly fleet and MPG management reporting.
    • Perform fleet assessments to secure annual DOT SmartWay certification.
    • Work with cross functional teams to guarantee best negotiations and contracts are in place at the best quality and cost.
    • Be the main point of contact with suppliers and internal stakeholders for the Fleet category.

 

  • Packaging: 40%
    • Review and monitor standard monthly packaging supplier reporting and KPIs.
    • Analyze and negotiate packaging contracts, create, and implement strategies to have the best quality and cost in place.
    • Use packaging category expertise and uniquely cross-functional perspective to develop innovative and advanced recommendations for packaging business growth and development.

Manage all non-trade Fleet and Packaging procurement categories. This will include sourcing and evaluating suppliers, generating RFQ/RFP’s. You will be negotiating and reviewing contracts with legal teams, guaranteeing commercial discussions are reflected and CEVA needs are secured in the contract to be signed.  Providing field support, developing equipment specifications, creating asset disposals requests, providing oversight on all Fleet maintenance activities and managing our DOT SmartWay certification.  This category also includes packaging, pallets/cartons and supporting other Operational categories as needed.   You will need to build rapport with internal stakeholders to ensure Procurement is a key part of the processes.  You will be the main point of contact between supplier and internal business units. You will be required to work closely with Ceva’s preferred suppliers to build and strengthen relationships.  Strong contract management, contract administration and negotiation skills are required for this position. 
 

 

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in managing the strategic sourcing process and/or relevant category management.
  • Certification and Licenses:  APICS CPIM, ISM CPSM, or similar certification preferred.
  • Fleet and IT operational and procurement experience.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.
  • Strong technical understanding and in-depth knowledge of transport equipment and IT specifications and applications.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Supply Chain, Engineering or related.

 

Skills:  

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Analytical, problem solver, self-starter, good communicator, leader, strong negotiation skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
  • Capable of communicating and relating to all levels of the organization verbally and in written form.
