PROJECT OVERVIEW

CEVA Logistics recently took another step towards sustainable transport by testing a new long-haul electric truck designed for cross-border commerce in Asia. With significant experience in Asian cross-border transport, CEVA recently tested the new EV truck as part of the company’s commitment to transforming its ground operations and providing customers with more sustainable logistics solutions.

TRANSFORMATION STORY

CEVA inaugurated the long-haul EV trial run with a ceremony themed "Embracing Sustainability, Connecting Asia." The EV truck is manufactured by Windrose and boasts best-in-class battery performance and reliability. The round-trip journey spanned a total distance of 1,725 kilometers which was achieved with only three charging stops. The outbound trip from Dongguan, Guangdong Province to Pingxiang, Guangxi Province carried a 10-ton shipment of electronic products, and the return trip was loaded with 12 tons of tires traveling from Pingxiang to Guangzhou.

The trial recorded a CO2 emissions reduction of up to 65% (well-to-wheel). This achievement aligns with the global demand for sustainable transport and logistics and with CEVA's unwavering commitment to reducing its CO2 footprint. Beyond reducing carbon emissions, the pilot project also demonstrated the cost savings that can be achieved through the lower operational expenses associated with electricity compared to diesel, making EV long-haul trucking a financially viable option for cross-border logistics.

LOOKING FORWARD

CEVA is moving forward in its goal to be net zero by 2050 and will continue to research, pilot and customize innovative solutions that provide customers responsible and sustainable logistics for the future. In line with the net zero commitment, CEVA’s FORPLANET sub-brand offers customers a suite of logistics solutions that enable customers to reduce the environmental impact of their supply chains by leveraging low carbon transport and circular economy solutions.

This pilot project underscores CEVA’s commitment to environmental responsibility and vision to deliver seamless logistics and end-to-end transport solutions across Asia and beyond. The project marks the beginning of CEVA’s plan to extend its EV trucking network to connect China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, with the aim of offering an average door-to-door lead time of 2 to 6 days. The long-haul EV trial is setting a precedent and convincing use-case for the broader adoption of EVs for cross-border transport in China and Southeast Asia.
