CEVA Logistics recently won the prestigious Best Green Logistics Operator Award at the 2023 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards. The ceremony took place in Singapore on Sep. 28, 2023. Cyril Lefebvre, SVP Commercial APAC, from CEVA Logistics collected the award on behalf of the company.
The awards, hosted and organized annually by Asia Cargo News, recognize leading service providers, including air and shipping lines; airports and seaports; logistics, 3PLs and other associated industry professionals.
As part of the CMA CGM Group, CEVA is strongly committed to the protection of the environment and aims to emit net zero carbon emissions by 2050. As a whole, the Group is investing in research and development to help the emergence of future energy sources and technologies to reduce the impact of transport and logistics on the planet.
The award recognizes CEVA’s achievements in working to reduce its carbon emissions in three key areas, principally:
CEVA also recently completed a project to switch its warehouses in China to 100% LED lighting, substantially reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions as a result. CEVA remains committed to transitioning all of its warehouses to LED lighting by the end of this year. And that’s just one project that’s taking place across the global organization.
In addition, CEVA is installing additional solar photovoltaic panels on sites, to increase its generation and use of renewable energy, as well as switching its ground fleet to lithium battery operated vehicles. At sea, CEVA offers its customers alternative fuel options, including biofuel, LNG and biomethane to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of their ocean cargo.
The AFLAS award nomination and voting process allowed the more than 15,000 readers of Asia Cargo News and e-news subscribers to determine the leading companies in the market and then the winners, making the results the opinion of service users rather than a panel of judges.
Asia Cargo News laid down the nomination criteria, and following a technical evaluation, the top eight firms in each category appeared on the final ballot. The top four firms in each category made up the final shortlist, with the winners collecting their awards from guest presenters from some of the most prominent players in the Asian freight and logistics industry.
The Best Green Logistics Operator Award was one of 50 awards taken home by leading cargo, logistics and supply chain companies from the 2023 AFLAS Awards. Darren Barton, Asia Cargo News publisher said, “The AFLAS Awards are where stakeholders in the cargo and logistics sector come together to celebrate the very best in our industry.”
“The AFLAS Awards give us, and the industry, the opportunity to recognize the top global players in the industry,” added Asia Cargo News managing editor Gregory Glass.
