SYDNEY – Nov. 17, 2023 – CEVA Logistics, a world-leader in third-party logistics, won the prestigious Environmental Excellence award at the Australian Supply Chain Logistics Awards (ASCLA). The award recognizes CEVA’s green initiatives in its warehouses and operations.
Hosted by the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA), the ASCL Awards are the Supply Chain and Logistics industry’s oldest and most prestigious annual awards. Now in their 61st year, the awards are celebrating excellence and innovation.
CEVA has a similar pedigree, having first established its Australian operation in 1946. It now has more than 35 sites in different parts of the country and continues to grow. This includes 600,000 square meters of warehousing property.
As part of the CMA CGM Group, CEVA is strongly committed to the protection of the environment and aims to reach net zero by 2050. In the near-term, CEVA announced earlier this year its commitment to triple its use of roof-top solar panels, switch to all LED lighting and only use low carbon electricity, all by 2025. By the end of 2025, the company expects to have approximately 1.8 million square meters of solar panels installed at its facilities.
CEVA’s green initiatives in Australia continuing into 2024
Among CEVA’s environmental achievements in Australia is its West Park supersite in Truganina, which achieved a six-star rating (denoting world-class leadership) from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). The facility was the first industrial building in Australia to reach this level in the Design & As Built category. The West Park site easily exceeded the points rating required to achieve the top rating, which is measured across a range of factors, such as energy, land and water use, materials, and emissions.
All CEVA sites in Australia are certified with four to six stars based on GBCA’s comprehensive rating system. CEVA has already achieved 100 percent LED lighting in all of its warehouses in Australia. In addition, thanks to CEVA’s ongoing program to increase waste recycling and switch to low carbon energy, all sites should achieve at least a 5-star rating by the end of 2024.
