  • Gdynia office supporting European growth, need for ocean freight solutions
  • Greater local access to global less-than-containerload (LCL) services

MARSEILLE, France – June 29, 2022CEVA Logistics is connecting European customers with ports around the world through a new office located in Gdynia, Poland. The new location is focused ocean freight services, including less-than-containerload (LCL), full container load (FCL), break bulk and project logistics.

CEVA has more than 30 existing locations in Poland, including major contract logistics sites in Wrocław, Poznań and Piła. The new freight management office in Gdynia is home to members of the company’s Ocean freight and Industrial Projects and Energy Services (IP&ES) teams. The new office also serves as the rail control tower for Europe.

Leading network, LCL offering with carbon offsetting included

The Gdynia branch offers customers another connection point in an extensive global logistics network of 1,000 locations and 10,000 port-pairs. With direct port services now in both Gdynia and Gdańsk, CEVA offers numerous direct LCL connections between Europe, North America and Asia Pacific—including Hong Kong, Ningbo and Shanghai. One of the top connections for CEVA’s LCL service in Gdynia is the U.S., and the company has already started weekly services from Chicago to Gdynia, including pick-up services from anywhere in the U.S.

CEVA provides a range of services across its global network, including a more sustainable LCL offering. In 2021, CEVA became one of the first freight forwarders to offset 100 percent of its LCL services. The value-added offsetting feature for LCL customers is provided at no additional cost. CEVA handles approximately 500,000 cubic meters of LCL cargo each year.

The company’s “Share the Box” LCL carbon footprint program is in connection with PUR Project conservation efforts in southeast Sierra Leone.

Short sea service to England powered by LNG

CEVA is also offering customers more sustainable transport options in its short sea shipping. A weekly LCL short sea Greenroute service is available from Gdynia to Tilbury, England. CEVA Greenroute indicates that all voyages are carried out on ships powered by liquified natural gas (LNG). CEVA Logistics also transports LCL short sea shipments to Tilbury via the Port of Gdynia originating from other Eastern European, including Bratislava, Hamburg and Prague. The shipments are consolidated in the port of Gdynia, and CEVA handles the delivery process, including customs clearance on both sides.

Stephane Gautrais, global ocean leader, CEVA Logistics, said: “The experienced team in our new Gdynia location will help customers benefit from both our global network and our efficient and sustainable ocean offerings. Our people understand not only our customers’ needs, but also broader market shifts and conditions. As versatility continues to be important, our team is developing and delivering the needed solutions.”
