General Motors: Repairing ventilators in Brazil

CEVA has worked in partnership with General Motors in Brazil to recover and deliver damaged hospital ventilators to sites for repair and deliver them back to hospitals.

There are more than 35 maintenance points located in 19 states in Brazil, where up to 3,600 respirators can be serviced and repaired at any one time. General Motors works at five of these maintenance points, which are spread over a radius of more than a thousand kilometres in the Southeast and South regions of the country.

CEVA has contributed to the planning of the network and the management of all processes as well as the handling of the equipment for calibration, return to hospitals and transportation of packages and supplies for the entire maintenance process.

CEVA has partnered with a number of other transport providers to deliver this initiative including ALFA Transportes, HD Transportes, Suttle Transportes and Rápido Paraná with all participants providing their services on a humanitarian basis, without any type of remuneration.

Huawei: Face Masks for Peru

In Peru, CEVA enabled key customer Huawei to make a donation of two tonnes of face masks to the Peruvian Government in the fight against the pandemic. Huawei chose CEVA to organise and deliver an urgent airfreight shipment from Mexico to Peru in a very tight time frame with CEVA’s Freight Management team going the extra mile to ensure the mission was made possible.

Medtronic: Ventilators to Chile

Meanwhile in Chile, CEVA was tasked with ensuring another key customer, Medtronic, was able to deliver a purchase of 72 mechanical ventilators made on behalf of the Chilean Ministry of Health. This delivery raised the number of ventilators now being operated in the country to over 620.

Says CEVA Logistics’ Managing Director LATAM, Nadia Ribeiro: “Teams across the CEVA network in the region have really stepped up to the mark and ensured our company plays an important role in the fight against this pandemic. We have of course ensured their safety at all times. We believe the important role logistics can play during the crisis has never been clearer. Being able to provide our customers with services to deliver vital equipment is a key part of our combined efforts.”
