Celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

CEVA supports its disabled workforce

December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, backed by the United Nations (UN) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The campaign day aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with a disability. Celebrating this awareness day reinforces the importance of securing the rights of people with disabilities, so they can participate fully, equally and effectively in society and face no barriers in their lives.

The 2023 campaign theme is “United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities”. It encourages employers to ensure that people with disabilities are provided with opportunities for fully valued and equally compensated productive employment – as part of UN SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth and UN SDG 10 Reducing Inequalities.

People with disabilities in logistics

At CEVA Logistics, we’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer. Diversity and inclusion is in our DNA. We know our people are our greatest asset. We aim to provide an environment where everyone feels valued and respected and can fulfil their potential.

CEVA is a global business, with 110,000 employees. UN figures state that 1.3bn people, around 15 percent of the world’s population have a disability. And 80 percent of those people live within developing countries. And we aim to echo those statistics in our workforce.

We know that increased diversity leads to different perspectives and ideas. As an organization that’s focused on finding innovative solutions to logistics challenges, we want to find these fresh and bold new perspectives.

Inspiring Journeys: Our Employees' Triumphs

Globally, we are marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by sharing stories from our colleagues, who are living with a disability and how they are contributing to the business. And we’ll take time to reflect on the different presentations of disability and how wider team members can actively support their differently abled colleagues.
