SÃO PAULO, January 21 - The Brazilian Contract Logistics division of CEVA Logistics, a leading provider of supply chain logistics services, has announced its newly created partnership with Carrefour Brazil in the consumer goods segment. The contract with the French based retail franchise will take effect in April of 2008 and will involve 43 CEVA employees.
Among the activities that the company will carry out at the 12.5 thousand square meters warehouse are reception, storage, sorting, and inventory management of thousands of items such as foodstuffs, perfumes, electronics, and appliances. The operation will be headquartered in the city of Manaus, in the state of Amazonas, north east of Brazil.
Carrefour's operations in Brazil consist of 109 hypermarkets, 34 mid sized supermarkets and 258 daily discount stores, making it the number one food retailer in terms of sales in the country. "Our objective in our partnership with CEVA, in Manaus, is to use its experience and technological contribution to stand out in quality and productivity, besides offering a higher level of service to the stores, at a competitive cost. We also want to develop another logistics operator in Brazil with the targeted know-how in the dynamic retail supermarket sector," says Tulio Bolzoni, Logistics Director for Carrefour Brazil.
This is CEVA's first contract in the foodstuff sector in Brazil, but the company hopes to announce new conquests in 2008. "In countries like England and Italy, we have a strong representative presence in the retail and foodstuff industries. Our experience in supply chain management for the consumer goods segment will certainly benefit our current and future customers," says Paulo Franceschini, Brazil's Business Development Director for CEVA Logistics.
