SÃO PAULO, Brazil, March 14 - CEVA Logistics - Contract Logistics Division - has successfully won three new contracts with the Eaton Corporation, a leading global diversified industrial manufacturer, at their Valinhos plant, 90 kilometers North of S„o Paulo City. The first contract deals with activities including transport of raw materials and finished products from the Forging Station in Eaton. The second covers transport of finished transmissions from the end of the production line to the warehouse and subsequently the shipment of these goods to customers. The third deals with packaging for loose pieces destined for aftermarket sales. These three contracts will represent a 30% increase in turnover for CEVA Brazil's Eaton related revenues, and will involve 56 employees and 10 forklifts.
Transport operations for Eaton's steel forging production activities are expected to bring in over 2,500 tons of steel per month, which will supply the furnaces and presses on the production line. Internal movement of 7,200 packages per month has also been forecasted. The contract involving transport of finished transmissions is expected to ship around 18,000 units per month. CEVA's activities will range from transport from the end of the production line to the warehouse, with subsequent loading of vehicles taking the products to the customers. The aftermarket operation for transmissions will be focused on packaging loose pieces with an estimated volume of 14,000 pieces.
Expansion of our operations is mainly the result of having a good understanding of the needs our customer has highlighted and to supply them with solutions developed to meet these demands. "It is really important for us to be in synch with our customer; flexibility and agility were fundamental to expanding our partnership with Eaton", explained Henrique Ballesteros, CEVA Operations Director.
The Eaton plant in Valinhos manufactures mechanical transmissions for passenger vehicles, pickups, and light, medium, and large sized trucks, as well as manufacturing replacement parts for the company's products. Currently, the plant covers 105 thousand square meters and is run by 2,300 Eaton employees.
