WOLFSBURG, Germany, February 12 - After a long lasting successful cooperation on the production of the Volkswagen Touran, CEVA Logistics, one of the world's leading providers of supply chain logistics services, has been also selected to take over the production line feeding of the new Volkswagen SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) Tiguan serial production at Auto 5000, in Wolfsburg, a town called "the home of Volkswagen".
Volkswagen entered a new market with the production of a compact SUV. The Tiguan - a smaller version of the Touareg - was first launched in November 2007 with many new features compared to its "older brother", the Touareg. In only 2 months the car immediately reached a top position in the SUV market.
CEVA's employees in Wolfsburg were involved with feeding the production line of every Tiguan. Melanie Pinkwart, Manager Logistics Planning at the plant in the Wolfsburg branch is happy about the successful sales of the Tiguan:" This means a success story for CEVA as well. We are in charge of parts dispatch, storage, sequencing, production line feeding and empties returns handling." CEVA has been involved in the production planning at an early stage. "We work closely with the people from Auto5000 who are in charge of the pre-series planning and production, since October 2006".
